THE ROLE
After receiving appropriate training, to act as a point of contact and reassurance for employees, who may be experiencing a mental health issue or emotional distress. With an understanding of the important factors affecting mental health and an ability to identify the signs and symptoms for a range of mental health conditions. To listen non judgementally and hold supportive conversations, whilst maintaining appropriate boundaries, to signpost employees to professional help.
In exchange, we offer: Mental Health First Aid training, initially a two-day course. An allowance of £180 per annum and dedicated time to fulfil this role, with an ongoing network of support.
Requirements: It is essential to have an interest in mental health and wellbeing. To be able to relate well to others, with active listening skills and the ability to listen non judgementally. You will need good time management skills, in order to uphold this role alongside your other responsibilities. Able to complete incident forms, either electronically or manually. The confidence to establish appropriate boundaries with colleagues seeking support and the resilience to keep yourself safe and well.
You will need to ensure your availability to attend the following training dates of 12th and 13th October 2021.

ABOUT US
1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem at some point in their life. Bristol Waste Company’s mental health and wellbeing strategy, is to promote and support positive mental health and to prioritise mental health in the same way as physical health, therefore we are seeking to appoint, train and support, a further number of Mental Health First Aiders, alongside our existing team of trained mental health first aiders, as supportive ‘go to people’ for employees going through some form of mental health issue.
