Salary: £11 per hour
Full Time: 33.78 hours per week, 4 on 4 off, the hours will be covering the site opening times of summer 07:45 – 19:15 and winter 07:45 – 16:45. Exact start/finish time TBC

THE ROLE
The Household Reuse and Recycling Centre Operative works within a team and reports to a chargehand. The post holder will actively participate in all operations involving the receipt of waste and recycling. Working on a rota, duties will include controlling the receipt and separation of recycling, disposal and reuse of waste received. The post holder will be engaging with members of the public and directing the loading and transfer of waste and recyclable materials to final disposal points. Further, the post holder will be carrying out general site duties such as housekeeping of site grounds, buildings and staff facilities, and when trained to do so, driving wheeled loading shovel and other mobile plant. As well as carrying out inspections and reporting defects of mobile plant, vehicles and other equipment.

Requirements: It is essential to have experience in a customer-facing role and good communication skills. You must be able to demonstrate experience of effective contribution to team working and the ability to work effectively without direct supervision.
To be successful you must be able to learn to operate a wheeled loading shovel and forklift truck, as well as being able to operate a computerised weighbridge, training will be provided for both. The post holder must have an understanding of the relevant health and safety practices; alongside experience or ability to demonstrate suitability for physical work involving the lifting of weights up to 25kg, manual handling to include pushing/pulling waste bins.
Willingness to work flexibly and adapt to changing roles to meet operational requirements is essential.
