This is an exciting opportunity to gain excellent skills and invaluable experience within the Council’s busy ‘Counter Fraud and Investigations Team’ whilst studying for a professional fraud investigation qualification.
Local Authorities are a target for fraud and every loss to fraud is taking money away from valuable public services, you could help in the ‘fight against fraud’. If you have a naturally enquiring mind, an eye for detail and are someone who ‘spots when something just doesn’t look right’, this may be the role for you.
This is an interesting and varied role with the potential to work on a variety of different types of fraud work and giving you a wide skill set to move forward in a career in fraud investigation or other investigation work.
What the team does: The Counter Fraud and Investigations Team are
responsible for helping to prevent, detect, and investigate fraud in any Bristol City Council services and activity. The work of the team includes:
The role: This role will support other members of the team specifically the Senior Investigator and investigators and the Counter Fraud Manager and Investigations Manager. The apprentice will be a shared resource working across all aspects of the team’s fraud work.

There may be the occasional requirement to travel for the role but likely within the Bristol boundary.
There will be a need to travel to either London or the Midlands, to complete the qualification.
Where this role could lead?
This role will prepare you for a career in counter fraud or other investigation type roles. Whilst we cannot guarantee a permanent role within our own team, as you finalise your apprenticeship, you will be well prepared to apply should a permanent vacancy arise in the team.
Alternatively, this role will provide experience which has relevance to other Local Authority enforcement roles or investigator roles.

Entry Requirements You will need to hold a minimum of 3 A-Level passes or equivalent and have Maths and English GCSE at a Grade 4 or above. (grade C or Functional Skills level 2) Please look at the Personal Specification for further information about knowledge and experience.
