Team Leader/ Chargehand- Transfer Station

£35,798.49 per annum

Hours: 45 per week

Location: Avonmouth Depot, Bristol

IS THIS ROLE FOR ME?

 

You will monitor the performance and supervise the work of a team of Yard Operatives to ensure duties are completed in a safe and timely manner. You will drive and operate vehicles and equipment as required including a counterbalance forklift, and liase with mobile pant companies to organise repairs. 
Guiding and improving employee engagement and safety culture will be a key part of this role.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE:

• Act as the first point of contact to the public, providing professional service by giving advice, direction and assistance, ensuring that the appropriate waste is received and deposited correctly
• Control the receipt and segregation for recycling of waste received, engaging with commercial customers as well as members of the public
• Direct and control the loading and transfer of waste, recyclable and reusable materials to final disposal points
• Carry out general site duties including housekeeping of site grounds, buildings and staff facilities, maintaining a high standard of housekeeping.
• Relevant experience which demonstrates the ability to effectively provide guidance, instruction, support and motivation to an operational team
• Relevant experience of 360 material handler, fork lift truck and loading shovel duties
• Professional, confident interpersonal skills for face to face liaison with both internal customers and external buyers
• Demonstrable experience of the ability to remain effective, whilst adapting to changing tasks or priorities, to meet operational requirements
• Demonstrable, competent IT skills and relevant experience which demonstrates the ability to undertake general administration duties with keen attention to detail
• A good understanding of health & safety within the workplace

DESIRABLE:

• Operational experience in the waste disposal industry
• The ability to obtain a CIWM / WAMITAB – Environmental Permitting Operators Certificate (EPOC) or the equivalent
• Driving licence valid for use in the UK

• 360 Material handler licence
• FLT licence
• FEL licence
• Weighbridge operation experience 

• Baler experience
• Class 2 licence
• RoRo experience
• Driver CPC
