Permanent, Part Time 18.5 hours per week.
Are you someone proactive and highly organised who loves systems and processes? Do you feel passionate about providing opportunities for local communities to engage in democracy? We are looking for a part time Development Officer (18.5 hours) to work as part of a team, and with Councillors and partner organisations to support the delivery of Area Committees- a mechanism for local level devolved decision making in Bristol. The Communities Service is about growing the power of communities by working collaboratively with citizens, communities and the voluntary sector and well as across the council and with city partners.
The Community Resources Team is part of this service, working hard behind the scenes to deliver projects and programmes which enable great work in the voluntary sector. This role is about enabling the smooth operation of our projects and programmes and strengthening these by using effective systems, planning and data.
This is a predominantly office-based role, however part of the work will be supporting Area Committee meetings and collaborating with local organisations to improve and strengthen community engagement.
You’ll be involved in supporting the work of Area Committees to make funding decisions which ultimately improve the city’s neighbourhoods; delivering and managing grants programmes; communications and coordination of Councillor led meetings.
You’ll be able to use research and data effectively, with experience of developing and implementing systems to support monitoring, reporting and data management including use of Excel.
We’re looking for people with effective facilitation skills and a positive, encouraging approach to our colleagues and partners. Relationships are important to our work, so you will need experience of engaging with a wide range of partners to deliver projects which improve the lives of local communities, using creative communications and tools to bring people together.
You will understand how inequity, prejudice and discrimination work and be committed to bringing about meaningful change.
If you are a diligent, detail-oriented person and want to use those skills to encourage community engagement in decision making, support investment in communities and help build a thriving community and voluntary sector in Bristol, we’d love to hear from you.
This role will involve some evening and weekend work which will make up your usual working week and which you will be able to take back as flexi time.
