Full-Time, Fixed-Term (for one year)
We have an opportunity for a Documentation Assistant to join our team to help increase use of this historic material by diverse audiences.
The British Empire & Commonwealth Collection documents the links between Britain and countries in the British Empire from the late 19th century to recent times. This unique resource includes photographs, films, papers, and sound archives, as well as museum objects and artworks. We are working to make this material available for people worldwide to examine difficult, forgotten, or hidden histories from their own perspectives.
We are looking for someone with a demonstrable commitment to exploring the impact of the UK’s colonial history and telling previously untold stories. You will also need experience of working in a culture or heritage environment, strong communication skills, and excellent attention to detail. Your role will be to list collections, answer enquiries, and help to manage digital assets such as photos, film, and audio recordings. You will also assist with workshops, events, and activities, and create social media content.
