Full time (37 hours per week)/Permanent
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to apply for the post of Local Studies Librarian. You must be a qualified librarian with a passion to develop and promote the local studies collection, and the ability to inspire all ages to discover family and local history. In short, we need a person who will bring our collections to life for our customers and citizens and to celebrate our cultural diversity.
You will need to have worked in a library or archive environment and to have experience of staff management and customer service, as well as stock management and promotion. You will be responsible for managing the collection by purchasing appropriate resources in a variety of formats, including periodicals and digital resources, to enhance and ensure access to the citywide collection.
Key duties for the postholder are:
N.B. This post includes regular evening working (at least one evening a week, usually until 7pm) and working alternate weekends on a Saturday or Sunday.
