An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our dedicated team of staff and volunteers who maintain and operate the Working Exhibits at M Shed. This unique collection includes steam locomotives, diesel and steam driven boats, and the electric cranes which are icons of Bristol’s skyline. This new role will work with our existing Operations Manager Working Exhibits to lead a large team of volunteers in caring for and operating the Working Exhibits for the enjoyment of our visitors. You will help create a sustainable future for the collection by learning from the experience and expertise of our long-standing Operations Manager Working Exhibits and exploring ways to diversify our volunteer team.
We are looking for a passionate and committed individual who is keen to develop their knowledge and skills in hands-on industrial collections management and share their enthusiasm for these important objects with our volunteers and visitors. You will have skills and experience in the maintenance and restoration of industrial machinery, knowledge of the statutory requirements of operating a railway, and experience of managing people. Full training will be provided for statutory obligations.
